Impact Workwear Celebrates 25 Years!
The month of May marks 25 years of Impact Workwear. We’re proud to celebrate a milestone built on high-quality workwear, PPE, and a service defined by knowledge, reliability, and genuine relationships.
This anniversary isn’t just about us. It’s about the people and businesses we’ve supported along the way — the teams who start early, work through all conditions, keep sites moving, keep production running, and keep the North East doing what it does best: working hard, standing together, and getting the job done.
From a simple start to a trusted local partner
Founded in 2001 by directors Arjan and Philippa Piet, Impact Workwear began with a clear aim: to supply reliable, high-quality workwear to local businesses with a personal approach.
In the early days, the business was run with a true start-up mentality, every order, every query, every customer mattered. That approach shaped who we are today.
And while we’ve grown, the principle has stayed the same.
Built around real working life
As our customer base grew, so did our understanding of what businesses really need. It’s not just about supplying products, it’s about delivering the right solution.
Workwear and PPE must work in the real world: across different roles, environments, and safety standards, while balancing comfort, durability, compliance, and cost.
So we listened. And we invested.
Creating space to serve customers better
In 2019, we moved to Nelson Park West Industrial Estate to strengthen how we support customers day to day.
This investment enabled us to:
- Increase stockholding across key workwear and PPE ranges
- Introduce a dedicated trade counter for easier access
- Expand warehouse capacity for faster fulfilment
- Grow embroidery and print capability for branded uniforms
Adding knowledge, not just supply
In 2020, we introduced a dedicated training room to enhance the support we provide beyond products.
This space allows us to deliver:
- Product demonstrations
- Workplace safety discussions
- Specialist guidance on workwear and PPE selection
It means customers get more than a catalogue option, they get informed, practical support.
In 2021, we further strengthened our branding capability with investment in a 12-head embroidery machine, increasing capacity and improving turnaround for customised workwear.
Improving how we operate every day
By 2024, our focus was on refining the service customers rely on most.
We invested in:
- A goods lift to improve efficiency
- Expanded warehouse capacity for better stock availability
- Refurbished trade shop & changing rooms
- Packing room to support service delivery
These improvements are felt where it matters most. In stock availability, faster turnaround, and dependable service.
25 years on: stronger capability, same commitment
In 2026, we celebrate 25 years of supporting businesses with dependable workwear, PPE, and branded uniform solutions.
Our growth is reflected in our team, expanding from 3 employees to 16, with significant investment since 2022 in:
- Customer service
- Operational strength
- Long-term capability
- National and local support
But the principle hasn’t changed.
Bigger doesn’t mean different. It means better equipped to do what we’ve always done. Every order, every query, every customer matters.
